Problem
Pipeline slugging — irregular flow patterns that produce sudden surges — causes downstream upset and equipment stress. A midstream operator wanted to predict slugging conditions far enough ahead to react.
Approach
R2 built a custom simulator combined with machine-learning analytics on historical pipeline data. The combination forecast slugging conditions with enough lead time to enable operational response.
Result
A commercially viable product — the operator continues to run it in production.
